Golden Temple (金殿)

Golden Temple park sits in northeast Kunming. It is large enough to spend a couple of hours strolling through forests, visiting the temple and perusing botanical exhibits. Entrance is free.

The main entrance on the west opens immediately to a steep stone stairway. A third of the way up the hill, weary visitors can opt for the ride (fee) which transports them up another third of the way. The remaining ascent leads to the Golden Temple on top. A cable car (fee) nearby descends to World Horticultural Expo Park.


Upon entering the main gate of Golden Temple, visitors can wander through a Daoist compound composed of several peaceful courtyards and small shrines. One of the standout features of this part of Golden Temple is its diversity of plants.
